A Husband For Christmas by Gail Gaymer Martin
A Husband for Christmas
A note from Gail:
When I considered starting a new series, I weighed ideas that caught my interest. Though I often write about small towns, I wanted to try something even more intimate and the idea of residence on the same street in a small town. I prefer using places I know, and though I had never been to Owosso, Michigan, which is a small town, I made arrangements to visit there and had the help of a wonderful woman who is responsible for the Chamber of Commerce and all of the events found in this amazing small town.
The two day visit I made in Owosso sealed my excitement about writing this story. I not only learned about the many interesting community events in town but also in the adjacent two of Corunna. The cities share many events and every season of the year brings back favorite activities for the community. Owosso has its own amazing castle built by an author named James Oliver Curwood whose early 1900 novels were made into movies. He used the castle has only for writing and lived in another home in the city. You can read this blog post with photos of the real town of Owosso http://www.gailgaymermartin.com/2014/06/research-setting/
A Husband For Christmas, released by Love Inspired in October, is the second novel in the Lilac Circle Series. It is in stores now. Lilac Circle is the name of the cul-de-sac street where the character’s live. It is not the real name of the dead end street, but I took photos of the homes and layout so the things happen on an image of real street. The first novel, A Mother To Love was released in June 2015 and all the characters appear again in other novels.
Romantic Times: This is a sweet Lilac Circle romance where characters remind readers that all one needs is faith the size of a mustard seed. The characters’ fears of rejection are believable.
Most of my novels include a recipe from a dish prepared in the story. The recipe in A Husband For Christmas is one of my personal favorites. It’s easy to make, delicious and a guest pleaser.
Creamy Corn Casserole
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 eggs, beaten
1 14.5 oz box dry cornbread mix (I prefer Krusteaz Honey Cornbread)
1 15 oz can whole kernel corn, drained
1 15 oz can creamed corn
1 cup sour cream
Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9 x 9 pan.
In a medium bowl, combine butter, eggs, dry cornbread mix, corn and sour cream.
Pour batter into baking dish.
Bake for 45 minutes or until top is golden brown.

Better to See You by Gail Gaymer Martin
A Romantic Suspense Based on a Fairytale
Visiting her ailing grandmother in the fairytale-like German town, Lucy Blair plans to be a caregiver during her grandma’s illness and attend the world-renowned theater production of the Passion of Christ. What Lucy did not plan was to run into her old college boyfriend, Ron Woodson, who is in Germany to learn woodcarving for his furniture making business. Will their meeting rekindle the old flame or will the past smother the new spark?
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I grew attached to the characters, and I found it entertaining and captivating! Gail does a superb job in writing this inspiring love story. You will not be disappointed, but blessed, if you read this love story of Lucy and Ron. Reviewer: J. Smith
Fairy tales are all about happily ever afters. I love Gail Gaymer Martin’s fairy tale inspired story because the hea and the journey there is better than any fairy tale. Mrs. Martin’s characters come to life and Lucy and Ron are much deeper than any fairy tale heroine or hero. It’s a perfect story for the Christmas season or to read while sunning on the beach. Reviewer: H. Harden “cowgirl”
I absolutely loved this book. It was a sweet story about rediscovered love and redemption. I highly recommend it to anyone, especially Christians who will especially enjoy this tender story. Reviewer: D. Lopatka

Paula Reynolds is looking for a new job, a new home, a new everything—except for love. Determined not to repeat old mistakes, she’s staying away from romance. She never counted on falling for handsome firefighter Clint Donatelli. Clint is used to saving lives, but with the beautiful Paula, he faces a challenge. Getting to know her is a daunting task, especially since he’s just as wary of relationships. When he learns a stunning secret from her past, he must choose—to live the way he’s always lived, or trust in a new love.

Paula’s determination to change and her emotional growth are realistic. Readers will clearly see the characters’ vulnerabilities. The pace is steady pace and the conclusion satisfying in the final Sisters story. Romantic Time Review 4 stars

January’s Hot Off The Press
A Young Woman Dreaming of Freedom…
Sophie Davenport feels like a prisoner in her own house. In her twenty–two years, her overprotective parents have taken every possible measure to keep her from anything that might exacerbate her asthma–in other words, just about everything but reading and needlework. Yet Sophie longs for adventure…and for love. She corresponds clandestinely with a would–be suitor, until they meet and her wheezing scares him off. It seems her fragile health just might sentence her to a lifetime of monotonous inactivity.
A Young Man Dreaming of a Family…
Josh Harper is far more bookish than his brawny brothers. The middle child, he enjoys helping at his family’s stagecoach stop in Kansas, where he spends a great deal of time crafting furniture and other items out of wood. But, before long, his book smarts draw him to the nearby city of Windmill, where he begins work as manager of his uncle’s bank. He also looks after his niece and nephew, who spend their weeks in town to attend school. The change of scenery is welcome, but Josh yearns for a family of his own. Too bad eligible females are not plenteous on the prairie.
A Reality That Seems to Stand in the Way…
When Sophie’s aunt, a resident of Windmill, falls ill and requires help, Sophie volunteers. Despite his hesitation, her father finally relents and lets her go, as there is no other option. Her new role brings her into contact with the children boarding at her aunt’s home–and with the handsome uncle of two of them. Is there a larger purpose in her coming to Windmill? Or will Josh Harper reject her, if not for her frail health, then for the rocky nature of their relationship?

(Book #1 - Her Valentine Hero, Feb. 2013)
4 star RT review: In the second book in the Sisters series, strong characters demonstrate how we should not let fear prevent us from living the life God has planned. Martin is inventive with her offbeat comparison of a family to a puzzle.
